Richard Cardinal (born 1927) is an American Catch Wrestler who used the ring name "Dick Cardinal".
Born 1927, in Everett, Washington, Cardinal began an Amateur Wrestling career at the age of 10, when he was scouted outside a gym where a local meet was being held, and they required a spot to be filled in.
Dick Cardinal was trained for the carnival by August Sepp who was a notorious russian hooker, and with the help of Benny Sherman, Vic Short, and Bud Anderson he became arguably the greatest hook wrestler of the last 50 years. He participated in, quite possibly, the last public shoot match of the 20th Century...and won!!
He also competed in the National Wrestling Alliance, Don Owen's Pacific Northwest Championship Wrestling, and Al Tomko's All Star Wrestling.
Richard Cardinal is currently one of the last few Catch wrestling "hookers" (top ranking experts) alive who contested in competitive Catch matches, and fought in Athletic Shows, matches held by circuses which pit their troupe against all comers from a locale.
He now resides in a retirement home in Marysville Washington
- Dick is one of the last living "Hookers" which is a Master of catch Wrestling.
